How Much Does a Business Website Cost in India?

A practical breakdown of business website costs in India — what affects pricing, realistic budget ranges, and how to plan your spend without over- or under-investing.

Website pricing in India: the short answer

A professional business website in India typically costs anywhere from ₹15,000 for a simple brochure site to ₹2,00,000 or more for a complex custom platform. Most small and medium businesses land somewhere between ₹30,000 and ₹1,50,000, depending on the number of pages, design complexity, content readiness and whether they need ongoing support after launch.

The wide range confuses buyers because "a website" can mean very different things. A five-page company site with a contact form is a fundamentally different project from an ecommerce store with payments, inventory and customer accounts. Comparing quotes without normalising scope is the fastest way to make a bad decision.

What actually drives the cost

Price is driven by scope, not by the city you hire in. The main variables are:

  • Number of pages and template complexity — a 5-page site costs far less than a 40-page site with custom layouts per section.
  • Custom design vs theme — adapting an existing theme is cheaper than designing unique layouts from scratch.
  • Content readiness — if copy, images and logos are ready, development starts sooner. Delays in content delay everything.
  • Functionality — contact forms are baseline; calculators, dashboards, user logins and multi-step workflows add real engineering time.
  • Integrations — payment gateways, CRMs, WhatsApp APIs, email tools and analytics all need wiring and testing.
  • Ongoing maintenance — hosting, security updates and small changes are recurring costs, not one-time.

Realistic budget ranges

These ranges are indicative for the Indian market and assume professional (not freelancer-race-to-the-bottom) delivery:

  • ₹15,000 – ₹40,000: Simple brochure site, few pages, basic design, contact form. Suitable for very early-stage businesses testing the waters.
  • ₹40,000 – ₹1,00,000: Custom-designed business website, 8–15 pages, responsive build, SEO fundamentals, CMS for basic edits. The most common band for established SMEs.
  • ₹1,00,000 – ₹3,00,000: Ecommerce store or web application with accounts, payments, admin tools and integrations.
  • ₹3,00,000+: Complex custom software, multi-role platforms, or products with significant integration and compliance requirements.

Cheap websites cost more later

A ₹10,000 website built on a bloated page builder often becomes a liability within a year: slow load times, plugin conflicts, security patches nobody applies, and a design that cannot evolve with the business. Rebuilding from scratch usually costs more than doing it properly the first time.

The cheaper end of the market also tends to skip things that matter for long-term results — semantic HTML, mobile testing, performance budgets, analytics setup and basic on-page SEO. These are invisible until they are missing.

How to budget sensibly

Start with the business outcome, not a number. Ask: what should this website accomplish in the next 12 months — enquiries, online sales, credibility with larger clients, reducing manual work? Then scope backwards from that goal.

Get 2–3 proposals that clearly list what is included: page count, design rounds, technical SEO, training, timeline and post-launch support. A proposal that only shows a total price with no breakdown is a red flag.

Also confirm who owns what after launch — domain, hosting, codebase and content. Ownership ambiguity is how businesses get locked into overpriced maintenance they cannot leave.

What to ask before paying

Before signing, make sure you can answer these clearly: What is the timeline and what happens if either side delays? Is the design mobile-responsive and tested on real devices? Who writes the copy? What is included in post-launch support, and for how long? How is performance handled — image optimisation, caching, load times?

A good development partner will answer these without hesitation and put them in writing. If answers are vague, keep looking.
